Peter Browne, Council member (Draeger)
Current Position Perioperative Care Marketing Manager for Draeger UK
Having studied electronics back in the days when surface mount technology was in its infancy and having recently graduated I was looking for a job to put all my new found skills to use. My first job was as a Medical Physics Technician Grade IV in the Royal Hospital in Belfast in 1986, this is where my passion for medical equipment and what it can do was born. One of the first jobs I had to do was changing batteries on a Drager Babylog ventilator at the best side of a preterm baby in the neonatal unit, I still remember being frightened by the complexity of the equipment and the fragility of the patient. I moved on over time to being Ohmedas first combined electronic and mechanical hybrid service engineer and really enjoyed that close relationship between customer and engineer for 10 years. In the late 90’s I moved into capital sales in anaesthesia and monitoring with Ohmeda and although the company has changed to Draeger theatres has remained as my area of special interest. I am currently the Perioperative Marketing Care Manager for Draeger with responsibility for all our products. I have been on the board of Barema for about 2 years now with a special interest in “sustainability” and how we can all help reach the NHS goals for Carbon zero.
